Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, who is one of the wealthiest individuals globally, has postponed his highly anticipated visit to India. He was expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi during his trip. Musk said that the delay was due to "very heavy Tesla obligations," expressing his eagerness to visit later in the year. "Unfortunately, very heavy Tesla obligations require that the visit to India be delayed, but I do very much look forward to visiting later this year," Musk wrote on X.
Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly Twitter), confirmed last week that he would meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India. He expressed his anticipation by saying, "Looking forward to meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India." Elon Musk was planning to announce an investment of 2-3 billion dollars for building a factory in India. He had previously met PM Modi during the latter's visit to the United States in June last year. During that meeting, they discussed PM Modi's plans to visit India in 2024 and Tesla's intentions to enter the Indian market and establish the much-awaited factory.
Months after the government announced a new electric vehicle policy, offering import duty concessions for setting up manufacturing units in India with a minimum investment of 500 million dollars, the news of Elon Musk's visit to India surfaced. His visit was expected to boost another of his ambitious projects in India, Starlink. Experts believe that Starlink's operations in India would strengthen the security partnership between India and the US.
